The Family Rain EP Review

Fresh from supporting the The Rolling Stones at their recent Hyde Park gig and Biffy Clyro at Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks, The Family Rain are a new and exciting indie band, made up of three brothers from Bath, who appear destined for the big time. With the release of their debut album later this year, the band’s latest single ‘Pushing It’, sounds like a sure-fire hit.

The Family Rain consists of twins, Tim and Will Walter, and their older brother Ollie, which makes this somewhat of a family affair. The brotherly set up of the band draws obvious comparisons to this years Reading and Leeds headliners, Biffy Clyro, who also boast a set of twins within their alt-rock three-piece. However, the indie rockers from Bath have a sound that seems more like a cross between The White Stripes and The Arctic Monkeys, and are hoping to follow in the footsteps of these iconic bands with their flawlessly written and stadium worthy tracks.

Their current release, the Pushing It EP, is well worth a listen for fans of indie rock riffs and raw, gritty vocals. The first single from the collection, after which the EP is named, ‘Pushing It’, is a hard-hitting and fun indie anthem. Other tracks taken from the EP also deserve credit, including the irresistibly catchy ‘Friction’ and the upbeat, smile-inducing track ‘The Truth’, this compilation sounds like the start of a very promising career and is generating a lot of buzz in the music industry. The Family Rain have managed to create a fantastic blend of catchy, overdriven riffs with vocals reminiscent of Jack White, The Black Keys and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. This compelling EP is a must-have for fans of indie rock music with a bluesy edge and is available to buy or download now.

Previously to the Pushing It EP, The Family Rain released their first single ‘Trust Me I’m a Genius’ at the beginning of 2013 followed by another impressive track, ‘Carnival’, in March, which can be downloaded for free on the bands website.

The band is now looking forward to playing at Reading and Leeds Festivals, as well as supporting Miles Kane and Jake Bugg in Glasgow, before they start their own headline UK tour later this year. The Family Rain are hot property at the moment and tipped hit the big-time going into 2014.
