Rolf Harris Charged with Sexual Abuse Against Teenage Girls

So the latest from Operation Yewtree is that entertainer Rolf Harris is to be charged with 13 child sex offence charges, which includes 9 counts of indecent assault and 4 counts of making indecent images.

Many of our readers may be old enough to have watched the series “Animal Hospital” which Harris famously presented, or perhaps endured “Tie my kangaroo down sport” at painful school discos. Many of you may perhaps be distraught by this news. However, don’t go burning your official Animal Hospital helicopter set just yet, as Harris can still defend himself at his trial which will take place on the 23rd September.

Harris, now 83 years old, faces one charge of indecently assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 1986 and six charges of indecently assaulting a girl aged between 15 and 16 from 1980 to 1981, as well as making indecent images of children between March and July 2012.

He was arrested back on the 28th March this year, and after studying the evidence, Alison Saunders, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London, says “Having completed our review, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr Harris to be charged with nine counts of indecent assault and four of making indecent images of a child”.
