It’s just a few weeks until this year’s Figure 8 Festival, a new music festival for Bristol, which aims to raise £5,000 for charity.
Figure 8 Festival 2013 takes place at The Birdcage, Bristol, on Friday September 27 and Trinity Centre on Saturday September 28. It is headlined by Britpop trio Dodgy, famous for the hit songs ‘Staying Out For The Summer’, ‘If You’re Thinkin Of Me’ and ‘Good Enough’.
The musical line-up is a cross genre selection of rock, indie, folk and acoustic sounds - with many of the artists veteran festival performers. Joining Dodgy will be some of the UK’s finest touring acts, from all corners of the UK, including Brighton’s Chris T-T, Devon’s Josie Ghost, London’s Katie Malco and Leeds-based rockers ALASKA, as well as Shock Horror, Joel Harries and Richard Abberline.
It also features some of Bristol’s best bands and musicians, Goan Dogs, The St Pierre Snake Invasion, Oliver Wilde, She Makes War, Sarah Proudfoot and MyOwnFlag. Our secret DJs will finish off the night with a set of floor-filling, eclectic mix of indie, rock’n’roll, Motown and more. Bristol’s very own human jukebox, Pip, will be on hand to perform some of your carefully selected tunes and there will be pop-up sets from some of the musicians on the bill.
The volunteer-run event, which is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, will also host an indie market, with locally-made clothing, food and gifts as well as a merchandise stall for the bands playing to sell their wares. And what charity event would be complete without a raffle? With a wealth of prizes up for grabs, including a Pieminister voucher, a Mullion Cove hamper and bowling/pizza at The Lanes.
Figure 8 Festival, the first of which took place in Dorset last year and raised £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, is also taking part in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and will be selling tea, coffee and cakes - including a special Mullion Cove Figure 8 Festival fairing - with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support. There will also be a BBQ, selling delicious food to fuel you into the night.
Tickets on sale now, priced £18.50adv, online and in person from Bristol Ticket Shop (with booking fee) and at The Gallimaufry, Minuteman Press, Rise Music and The Birdcage in Bristol (no booking fee). All proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support, which provides practical, medical and financial support to people with cancer.
