Jim Carrey may have disowned Kick-Ass 2 as being too violent, just after the cheque cleared probably, and you can see whether or not you agree with him by checking out the latest Red Band trailer for Jeff Wadlow's sequel to the Matthew Vaughn original.
It's a shame Ace Ventura has turned his back on Kick-Ass 2, because it looks like he's bloody brilliant in it.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson returns as the titular hero, who is a hero despite being completely rubbish at it, and he's rejoined by Chloe Moretz as Hit-Girl. She was the best thing about an already great movie in Kick-Ass, and from the trailer she's turned up for work hoping to beat her own high score.

The trailer opens with a familiar scene from the first movie, only instead of Nicolas Cage shooting at a 12 year old girl, it's that same girl (now 15) shooting at Dave Lizewski AKA Kick Ass. He's being a bitch about it, so she shoots him in the back and laughs in his stupid face. Because that's what she's like.
The world of superheroes has progressed in the past few years, with more and more costumed crime fighters suited up and joining in Kick Ass and Hit-Girl's crusade against evil. Jim Carrey plays Colonel Stars & Stripes, a former mafia enforcer who found Jesus and turned to the light side.
Unfortunately evil hasn't exactly been sitting on its arse all this time, and the former Red Mist has rebranded as the much more S&M based Mother Fucker. He's all kinds of pissed off that Kick Ass shot his father out of a window with an RPG, and to get his revenge he's massing an sort of Council of Doom with a view to destroying the green and yellow hero and becoming the world's first real Super Villain.
We see him recruiting and naming his followers, from The Tumour (British comedian and writer Andy Nyman) to an ex-Triad assassin now known as Genghis Carnage.
Kick-Ass 2 the comic book series is staggeringly violent and shocking, and from the looks of the trailer they're either keeping most of that stuff to themselves or have decided not to include it. I bet it's not the latter.
Kick-Ass 2 is released August 14th and you need to go and see it. Check out the trailer below and book your tickets very soon after. Or do you just do everything Jim Carrey tells you to?
