Sir Ian McKellen to play Sherlock Holmes

He's all over the place these days isn't he, Sherlock Holmes? There's the crap Guy Ritchie version where he takes his shirt off and goes bare knuckle boxing with geezers in slow motion, and there's the utterly excellent BBC version where Benedict Cumberbatch swans about solving crime in a slim-fit blazer and giving the ladies his hard stare, and the frankly baffling Johnny Lee Miller American version where he's all tattooed and trying to get sexy with Lucy Liu as Watson. 

No Cumberbatch for Star Wars VII

Since J.J Abrams took over from batshit accidental genius George Lucas on the Star Wars franchise, the rumours about who he'd cast as who have been numerous and loud. At one point a very good case was made for a female actor to play Han Solo, and Jennifer Lawrence's name got thrown into the pot. Turns out that's not true obviously, because there are only three women in the entire Star Wars Universe, and it also turns out that Benedict Cumberbatch having been cast in the movie isn't true either.
