Beverly Hills Cop TV Series Cancelled. Movie Confirmed.

The horribly ill-advised TV series sequel to Beverly Hills Cop, starring the formerly hilarious actor and comedian Eddie Murphy in a cameo role as Axel Foley, has been rightly and sensibly cancelled.

The pilot, with Brandon T. Jackson as the Son of Foley, was not picked up for series by American network CBS and all efforts to shop it around to other channels failed as well. Luckily America is a place where you can fail upwards, and interest in the franchise has caused Paramount to become interested in the franchise. So interested in fact that they've not only greenlit a 4th movie in the series, but already hired writers to put it together.

Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, screenwriters of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (surprisingly pretty good) and the upcoming Michael Bay ruination of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, are said to be "moving fast" on a script so that Paramount can capitalize on the current shits being given.

It's been 19 years since Murphy slipped on the Detroit Lions jacket and saved the founder of a kids theme park from certain bankruptcy and scandal (that's the plot of Beverly Hills Cop 3, in case you weren't born at the time) and right now it seems like he's due to make a comeback.

He has a lot of making up to do if he wants audiences to get on board. He's had several chances at a proper career resurgence; in drama with Dreamgirls and in comedy with Tower Heist, but he's stumbled each time and wound up going back to easy family films and things where he puts on a fat suit and plays an old woman who farts.

No word on whether poor old Brandon Jackson, or indeed anyone from the TV series, will get their jobs back for Beverly Hills Cop 4, and at the time of writing there's no director attached.

This looks like a job for Tyler Perry!
