"Cabin in the Woods" Director to Write Netflix' "Daredevil"

Last week Wireless man Ben Mapp informed you, very kindly and with no ulterior motives, that entertainment giant Netflix had reached an agreement with Marvel and Disney to produce four original and exclusive series based on New York based characters.

Luke Cage, Ironfist, Jessica Jones and now, thanks to having re-secured the rights back from Fox, Daredevil! Forget the terrible Mark Steven Johnson Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck in it. Ben Affleck's an Oscar winning Batman now and Mark Steven Johnson lives in a fridge box under a motorway probably. Cast it as far from your mind as it will go, because today Netflix has announced that the first name in negotiations to write Daredevil is none other than Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard.

If you've not seen Cabin in the Woods, it stars Thor and some other people in a meta-horror-comedy affair which becomes very confusing and very fucking great the longer you watch it. It's also written by Drew Goddard and a friend of his... Joss Whedon.

Joss "Lord of the Marvel-verse" Whedon, with whom Drew Goddard also worked on Buffy and Angel. His pedigree in this area is undeniable, but if you are still somehow denying it then let's check out some of Drew Goddard's other credits shall we?

Alias, Lost and Cloverfield. He wrote Cloverfield, which means he's also approved and endorsed by JJ Abrams! Drew Goddard is the script-writer of choice for Joss Whedon and JJ Abrams, the Kings of the nerd-movie world.

The shows will intertwine here and there, leading up to a huge special series at the end starring all four heroes and titled The Defenders.

Don't worry either, because they've not just got some flash-in-the-pan writer du jour on board simply because he's mate with Master Whedon. Goddard is a fan of Daredevil, and not a "fan" like people always say they're fans of the character they've just been paid armfuls of cash to make into a movie (Tim Burton!), he's a proper fan!

"You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his wall while growing up. Even when I was 18, I still had the blood red door with the, ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear.’ That was what I loved and so it’s the sort of thing that if we can find the right project, I would love to do it."

So stop worrying!

Daredevil, along with the other three shows, will be appearing on your Netflix queue under "CURRENTLY POPULAR ON FACEBOOK" sometime in 2015. Which is ages away, so we've no idea who's gonna play any of these people, although stick a quid on Ryan Reynolds why not?
