Gal Gadot Cast as Wonder Woman; Fans Outraged

Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman. This has caused outrage and disappointment amongst fans as they don’t believe she’s right for the role.

Why is she wrong for the role in the eyes of so many? Because she’s really, really skinny. Too skinny to be Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is and has always a curvy girl, which is a far shout from Gal Gadot’s tiny frame.

And it’s not just male fans whining that she needs to have bigger boobs either. Wonder Woman has for a long time been a feminist icon, because she’s a strong, powerful individual, and to an extent because she’s not skinny; she’s fantastic and she’s curvy. Casting a skinny Wonder Woman is like taking that feminist icon and removing all of its power as such, and not everyone is happy with that.

The Director, Zack Snyder, has said he thinks she’s perfect for the part; and in fairness, looking at just a headshot she does look like she’d make a good Wonder Woman. But her body shape is very different from the comic book.

But is that such a big issue? Film adaptations of classic comic book characters are rarely true to form. Anyone who’s seen any of the X-Men films knows just how far from accurate the films tend to stray. Actually the X-Men films can’t always keep facts straight between the films let alone the comics, but that’s off topic.

If the film versions are never fully true to the comic, why can’t we have a skinny Wonder Woman? Let’s not forget that Wonder Woman was conceived in the forties, when the perfect woman wasn’t rake-thin. If she’d been created in 2013, Gal Gadot might be an almost perfect match body wise.

I’m curious to see how she pulls off Wonder Woman. I can’t say I totally disagree with the fans who think she should be bigger, but I’m big on accuracy to the comics. That’s why people don’t like to watch X-Men with me. But let’s hope she proves us wrong and pulls off a great Wonder Woman. I think she might just surprise us.

Trailer - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

A few days after teaser photos were released, the first trailer for The Amazing Spiderman 2 swings in.

The follow up to 2012’s The Amazing Spiderman sees Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) now fully comfortable as Spiderman as he looks into the mystery of his parents disappearance and ignores the dying wish of Gwen Stacey’s (Emma Stone) father to leave her alone – not that I blame him.

Preview Pics & Synopsis Revealed For Amazing Spider-Man 2

The full trailer is just a couple of days away now, but Sony have at last revealed a full on proper synopsis and new images for next year’s sure-to-be-a-hit movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

“We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man,” said Sony.

"Cabin in the Woods" Director to Write Netflix' "Daredevil"

Last week Wireless man Ben Mapp informed you, very kindly and with no ulterior motives, that entertainment giant Netflix had reached an agreement with Marvel and Disney to produce four original and exclusive series based on New York based characters.

Luke Cage, Ironfist, Jessica Jones and now, thanks to having re-secured the rights back from Fox, Daredevil! Forget the terrible Mark Steven Johnson Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck in it. Ben Affleck's an Oscar winning Batman now and Mark Steven Johnson lives in a fridge box under a motorway probably. Cast it as far from your mind as it will go, because today Netflix has announced that the first name in negotiations to write Daredevil is none other than Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard.

"Dexter" Writer Melissa Rosenberg for Marvel & Netflix's "Jessica Jones"

I've already come at you with the knowledge that Netflix and Marvel's miniseries based on the Man Without Fear Daredevil will be written by Drew Goddard (Lost, Buffy, Cabin in the Woods) but now Wireless is here to let you know that one of the other series also has a writer attached.

Netflix have partnered with Marvel & Disney to bring 4 exclusive superhero tales to your TV. The heroes involved are the aforementioned Daredevil along with Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.

Marvel Creating four New Superhero Shows for Netflix

Ready for more superheroes? Marvel is! As if having a series of blockbuster movies and a television series wasn’t already enough!

This time Marvel have joined forces with Netflix in an unprecedented deal to produce four seperate, live-action series each focusing on four of their comic book superheroes, the first of which will introduce and develop a new Daredevil. The Daredevil series will be followed by one based on Jessica Jones, one on Iron Fist and another on Luke Cage.

Captain America 2 Will Impact Agents of SHIELD

Somewhat beleaguered Marvel TV vehicle "Agents of SHIELD" might well get one of the kicks up the arse it needs to achieve greatness in the form of a direct connection to Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

It's no secret that Agents of SHIELD hasn't been doing the gangbusters business of every other Marvel property brought to life on a screen, and critics haven't exactly been very kind to the show. The cast in particular, apart from Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, have been in for a right drubbing. If Marvel and parent company Disney want to keep the show going as their Mid-Movie Offering, they need it to be essential viewing.

"Thor" Actress Jaimie Alexander Rumoured for Wonder Woman

Thor 2: The Darkworld made over £68,500,000 this weekend, and it's not even out in American yet, but actress Jaimie Alexander who plays female Lady Sif maybe be about to swap her shield for... another... different kind of shield. And some rope.

Alexander was at the Comikaze Expo this weekend when she revealed she'd been in talks with Warner Bros about the possibility of her playing Wonder Woman, and the other possibility of her debut coming in Batman vs Superman. She didn't those things overtly, because no one ever does unless they're Samuel L. Jackson, but she admitted to knowing the plot of the upcoming DC Comics movie which is set to star Ben Affleck as Batman and a returning Henry Cavill as Superman.

Batman in Famous Movie Scenes

What happens when you stick a Batman head onto characters in famous movie scenes......?

Thor Dark World : Film Review

Following on from the events of Thor and Avengers Assemble, we're back in Asgard: Thor's fighting for peace, Jane's still waiting for his return to Earth, Loki is shacked up in prison and Odin's still a massive dick.

Thor, as a character, is undeniably a bit bland but Chris Hemsworth manages to, thankfully, make the eponymous muscle-bound dumb blonde more likeable this time round but it's the silver-tongued Loki, complete with daddy issues and increasingly Snape-like hair, that steals the show, yet again. Tom Hiddleston has a way of delivering every line as if he were performing Shakespeare and manages to inspire sympathy for a character that by all rights should have most people shouting, 'get over it!'. The film's strength lies in the warring relationship and chemistry between the 'brothers', Thor and Loki. Cinematography, again, is gorgeous: from Mario's Rainbow Road to Asgard to the towering golden citadel.

Batman: Arkham Origins Review

Like many nerds with money to burn, I pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Origins ages ago and as such my forward planning was rewarded when the slightly angry looking postman dropped it off this morning; the day of release.

If you’re not familiar with the franchise, Batman: Arkham Something is now three games (this new one being the third) and has been showered with so many awards you’d think the CEO of Warner Bros Games was Adele. You play The Goddamn Batman as you zip around an island asylum and then an Escape of LA style city-based prison, punching criminals in their turkey faces and growling.

Joss Whedon Might Not Be Avengers 3 Overlord

He brought us Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and more recently the Nerd King Joss Whedon took control of Marvel's cinematic Universe by both writing and directing The Avengers as well as Agents of SHIELD.

Work is already underway for the sequel, Age of Ultron, and Whedon is overseeing production of every other Marvel movie that might somehow tie into it.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Teaser Trailer Released

At Comic-Con earlier this year fans got to see the teaser trailer for the Avengers sequel Age of Ultron, which revealed the title of the new film. Finally it is online for all to see. It may not have any actual footage, the film hasn't started shooting yet, but one thing is sure - this film is going to be AWESOME!

Avengers: Age of Ultron casts James Spader as Villain

James Spader, who you may remember from the 80's (or from his performance as Robert California in the last couple of series of The American Office) will bring life to the title villain of the next Avengers movie when he takes on the role of Ultron.

Kick-Ass 2 - Review

Let's face the facts. Kick-Ass 2 was never going to be as good as the phenomenal first film, but it could have been better. It is undoubtedly a mess, but an enjoyable one that will make you laugh, will move you and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Hugh Jackman DENIES $100 Million Wolverine Offer

Last we here at Wireless (alright... me here at Wireless) reported that Australian beef-hunk and singing superstar Hugh Jackman was offered a $100 Million payday to reprise his role as Canadian claw-man Wolverine in four more movies.

Well it turns out that it wasn't true. Or so says Hugh Jackman anyway.

Bryan Cranston to take on Superman?

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston sent the internet into a frenzy today by responding to rumours that he could be playing Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman blockbuster.
