"Thor" Actress Jaimie Alexander Rumoured for Wonder Woman

Thor 2: The Darkworld made over £68,500,000 this weekend, and it's not even out in American yet, but actress Jaimie Alexander who plays female Lady Sif maybe be about to swap her shield for... another... different kind of shield. And some rope.

Alexander was at the Comikaze Expo this weekend when she revealed she'd been in talks with Warner Bros about the possibility of her playing Wonder Woman, and the other possibility of her debut coming in Batman vs Superman. She didn't those things overtly, because no one ever does unless they're Samuel L. Jackson, but she admitted to knowing the plot of the upcoming DC Comics movie which is set to star Ben Affleck as Batman and a returning Henry Cavill as Superman.

Wonder Woman is a very difficult character for DC Comics and Warner Bros to deal with. She's essentially their only top tier female superhero but attempts to bring her to live on both the silver and small screens have met with abject failure. There was the TV series in 2011 by Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelly which was set to star Adrianne Palicki as the Amazon Warrior Queen, the currently "stalled" series Amazon on the same network as Arrow in the states, and even a Joss Whedon scripted live action movie from way back in 2001.

Thus far it's been impossible to get any Wonder Woman property off the ground, but with even a cameo in Batman Vs Super Warner Bros could easily test the waters for another try. Casting Jaimie Alexander is a clever movie for a couple of reasons;

1) She's already proven to be tougher than all hell. During filming on Thor 2 an accident during a stunt almost paralyzed her. She fell down a set of metal stairs causing her to slip a disc in her spine, chip chunks out of 11 her of vertebrae and tear the rhomboid muscle away from her left side. She was out of action... for four weeks. One month. Then she came back to work, grabbed a sword and started cutting dark elves in half.

2) She's a great actress, not just a sexy actress. Sure, she is very very good looking, but that's not all she is. The problem with previous Wonder Women, Palicki included, is that they've been cast first for their ability to look fit in a shiny bathing suit and the actual talking and things can probably come later. Jaimie Alexander is ace in both Thor movies, rockin' in Nurse Jackie and even manages to make a good stick of it in The Last Stand with Arnie and Johnny Knoxville.

3) She's not Megan Fox.

And that's all you need!

Obviously she hasn't ACTUALLY been cast and she might ACTUALLY have been talking about something else and Wonder Woman might not ACTUALLY be in Batman Vs Superman at all. It's very early days and so on and so forth.

If this DOES turn out to be a true though, it's a damn good idea and whoever's it was needs to be commended. Jaimie Alexander might just be the one woman wonderful enough to get this damned franchise off the runway.
