Two people were killed after their car was hit by
an on-coming driver just several hours after the driver allegedly tweeted “2 drunk 2 care”.
Kayla Mendoza, 20, was driving in Florida early in the morning of 17th
November and was on the wrong side of the road when the collision happened. Marisa
Catronio, 21, was killed instantly while Kaitlyn Nicole Ferrante, 21, died of
her injuries sustained in the accident several days later.
Mendoza herself was taken to hospital after suffering
injuries, Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Mark Wysocky told CBS News her
alcohol level was not tested due to her condition although blood tests taken
are pending and will hold the results.
The tweet posted by a “Kaila Mendoza” was first reported by ‘The
Miami New Times’ and occurred around 4 hours before the time of the crash noted
on the official accident report. As well as posting “2 drunk 2 care”, the Twitter
account includes images of drug-use and Mendoza describing herself as a “pot
princess” in her bio.
With investigations still ongoing Kayla Mendoza is yet to be
arrested nor has the Twitter post be officially confirmed to be in connection to Mendoza.
