Marshall Amps Are Offering a £17,850 Music Scholarship

Marshall Amps gives young guitarists the chance to be heard.

Marshall Amplification is offering one lucky wannabe guitar star the chance to study at the prestigious Tech Music School in London, by paying their tuition fees.

The Marshall Amplification Scholarship - worth £17,850 - is for either the BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship or BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance course and will give support, resources and performance opportunities to an electric guitarist who would not normally have access to them.

Applications are now being accepted for the scholarship, which is open to UK and EU students.

To be chosen for the scholarship, exceptional electric guitarists will need to complete an application form to apply for a place at the Tech Music School, submit an original or a cover of their choice to showcase their unique creative approach and high level of technical skill via YouTube, and write a 300 word personal statement.

A small selection of musicians will then progress to the live audition final in June next year where they will play in front of a panel of judges including representatives from Marshall Amplifications, the school principal and other senior teaching staff.

The student chosen to receive the scholarship will then start their degree at Tech Music School in September 2014.

Jon Ellery, Managing Director at Marshall Amplification, said: “Marshall has been one of the most recognisable names in guitar amps for more than 50 years, and we believe that a lot of this success has been down to our deep understanding of musicians’ needs and a genuine passion for guitar music.

“We are always looking of ways to support the next generation of up and coming guitarists, whether that’s through innovative new amps or through sponsorship opportunities and giving new talent the chance to be heard.”
