Scientists have developed a new type of condom which has the potential to prevent the spread of HIV.



Researchers at the University of Manchester have been developing a new "wonder material", said to have "limitless potential"; and that's not just what she says when he's wearing it! Graphene is being used to develop condoms that are thinner, safer, and more enjoyable to use.

Manchester band, Mutineers, paid a visit to Glasgow's Pivo Pivo on Saturday 2 November as part of the UK tour for their new single, Tell Me Why.

After two years of working together on one of the first music beer collaborations in the UK, Robinsons and elbow have decided that it’s last orders for ‘build a rocket boys!’ beer.





Multi-platinum selling Manchester band elbow has recently announced a new studio album to be released in March 2014. To coincide with the end of the ‘build a rocket boys!’ campaign, both the band and Robinsons have decided to cease brewing the beer which was named after the album.

Live Review - Bastille at the Manchester Academy

On Tuesday night, London based four-piece band Bastille (stylised BĪ”STILLE) swept into Manchester as part of their biggest tour to date, on the back of the success of their chart-topping album Bad Blood. 



Supporting Bastille were Manchester band Swiss Lips who, despite being a lesser known group, had the home crowd dancing to their upbeat melodies within minutes and even posing for a photograph taken by frontman, Sam Hammond. Highlights included their undeniably catchy song U Got The Power (certain to be a hit in the near future) and the 80s electro-pop heavy In The Water. The song's ominous lyrics and the bright green lighting combined with the smoke machines turned the stage into misty swamp. In The Water will definitely be somewhere on my Halloween party playlist!

Through Colour to Release Double EP Series

Through Colour originally formed in Holyhead a decade ago, as the years passed by, the four friends grew tired of a lack of local opportunity and the creative confines of small town life, finally opting to up sticks and start afresh in the bustling rock scene of Manchester. Shacking up together to ensure an environment of creative focus, the band soon found that inspiration for a new direction came easier and more naturally than ever before, the big city lights acting like a proverbial ‘Eureka!’ bulb.
