What is the strangest thing you have ever brought home from a night out? A traffic cone? Someone elses shoes? A guest you really wish would get out your house before your mum sees them?
Well, a group of five French teenagers got hold of a llama. That's right. An actual llama.
The boys were arrested after drunkenly stealing a llama, called Serge, on Thursday night. Walking into a closed circus in Bordeaux with the intent of "playing with the animals", their initial aim was to capture a zebra, but, for some reason, the stripey creatures didn't want to go with them. So instead they took Serge. He was more up for the adventure.
“It walked with us like a good dog would have”.
After liberating the llama they then took him on a tram ride, only being stopped when other passengers noticed that one of the group was, in fact, not a ticket holding human, and alerted an inspector.
The inspector recaptured the llama from the boys after they were no longer able to control the "party animal" and let it loose in their carriage. They then ran, or rather staggered, away but were quickly picked up by the police. However, after footage of the tram riding escapades of the groups hairy sixth member vent viral and a Facebook campaign in support of them reached over 720,000 likes, the circus owners decided to drop the charges.
Serge wasn't bothered. He got his 15 minutes of fame, even being interviewed on French television.
