2013: My Year In Film - Matt Gammond

Blimey, what a year! Without a shadow of a doubt my most active 365 days in terms of cinema visits ever. Indeed, I forked out a small fortune in tickets to go and see some of the most hotly-anticipated movies of 2013, as well as some of the smaller flicks. Was it worth it? Of course!

The Wolf Of Wall Street Banned And Censored Across Asia

Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest venture with Hollywood messiah Martin Scorsese is one hell of a sexy affair. Blunt, over the top and totally debauched, it’s twanged a few nerves in various Asian countries leading to heavy editing and even outright bans.

Another Real Life Walter White Brought to Justice

A drug baron in the States has been sent down for dealing, and his name and occupation bears more than a passing resemblance to TV’s most famous narcotics lord.

The name? Walter White. The drug? Meth. Great Odin’s raven! What a coincidence.

Planet of the Apes Sequel's Debut Trailer Released

Caesar makes his silent return in the debut trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes – next year’s primate-centric blockbuster from Cloverfield director Matt Reeves.

In true teaser trailer fashion we’re given very little in terms of plot points, though the official synopsis makes it clear that the ape that caused so much trouble in the first movie is leading a rebellion against the humans who have been whittled down following the outbreak of a deadly virus.

Godzilla Trailer Hails The Return Of The King (Not Bryan Cranston)

After being shrouded in more secrecy than the Colonel’s secret blend of herbs and spices, 2014’s biggest movie (quite literally) has finally revealed itself.

Following a series of J.J. Abrams style viral marketing techniques, the first trailer for Godzilla made landfall yesterday afternoon and has already sent the internet into a nuclear winter. And I’m not surprised... have you seen it?!

Facebook Considering ‘Sympathise’ Button

I guess we’ve all had to ‘like’ someone’s saddening post on Facebook at some point, just to offer a bit of support. Though when someone delivers bad news to their online brethren ‘liking’ the post seems a little incongruous, wouldn’t you agree?

Angry eBay User Receives Free Xbox For Being A Moron

It looks like Santa favours responding to idiots over people who are actually in need. You’ll probably be well-acquainted with the story that broke a few days ago about a disgruntled eBay user that paid £450 for an Xbox One, only to receive a picture of one instead.

What a bummer.

Engine Demo Video For The Division Is Amazing

Wowza! Check out this silky trailer for The Division. Or rather, a massive PR glory bomb for a new game engine that makes real life look shit. Internet, meet Snowdrop.

It’s a cheeky bit of technological porn that has been cobbled together for the express purpose of making your jaw crack the floorboards. The Division is the reason it exists; a new open-world, always online RPG that’s being published by persistent purveyors of excellence, Ubisoft.

Teen Runs Up £1158 Phone Bill By Voting On TV Show

If Joey Essex has proven anything, it’s that a lot of the people that get involved with ITV’s ratings-buster I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! aren’t particularly intelligent. Nevermind what has to be the most inappropriate use of the term “celebrity” of all time.

Battlefield 4 – Review - XboxOne

Here we go again. Another drab, by-the-book military shooter. Honestly, the world must be tired with this rinse-and-repeat formula that developers use these days. Is anyone stepping up to change how games are played? Perhaps lower down the echelons they are, but up at the top with the likes of Call of Duty the train has been stuck at the same station for some time.

Preview Pics & Synopsis Revealed For Amazing Spider-Man 2

The full trailer is just a couple of days away now, but Sony have at last revealed a full on proper synopsis and new images for next year’s sure-to-be-a-hit movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

“We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man,” said Sony.

Should You Buy an Xbox One?

At last! Next-gen is here. It’s been a long time coming; the swirling vortex of rumours engulfed us all for months on end. Speculation was rife right up until Sony and Microsoft yanked the curtain off of their shiny new devices earlier this year.

And now, with the PlayStation 4 finally hitting UK shores, you are presented with a big decision; do you side with Microsoft or Sony? A question that, if asked online, would no doubt cause the internet to implode into a vacuum of ravenous fanboy warfare, mum jokes included. Sack that, I’m here to help. Sort of. I may not have both consoles, but I’ve had one for a week now so have gotten use to what it’s like to live with, how it performs and what it holds for the future.

Forza Motorsport 5 - Reviewed

What better way to kick-start the genesis of your new console than to release a new entry in one of your flagship franchises during the oft-criticised launch period?

That’s exactly what Microsoft have done; they’ve recruited wizards of the raceway Turn 10 Studios to create yet another exquisite entry in the Forza Motorsport series which has launched alongside its parent console the world over.

2013′s Biggest Film Flops Revealed

The year may not be over yet, but Forbes have put together a list of 2013′s biggest movie fails.

These are the ones that cost a bomb to make, but raked in very little at the box office. “Turkeys” as they are oh-so affectionately known.

The Counsellor – Film Review

The announcer at my screening began the show by saying, “this isn’t Die Hard, you actually have to pay attention” and to some extent that is correct.

The plot soldiers on at an undulating pace and demands your attention, lest you be discarded by the wayside. But to call it the most sophisticated narrative ever would be a lie similar in size to that of my gaping mouth during the most outrageous sex scene you’ll see all year. Cameron Diaz plus Ferrari minus morals? Yes please.

Ron Burgundy Gets His Own Ice Cream Flavour

Unless you've been camping out under a massive boulder for the last few months you’ll surely know about Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues – possibly the most literal film title of all time.
